The latest in a series of webinars from Tough Tech. This webinar will provide valuable insights on how Smart Trailer Technology can help you improve the efficiency and safety of your fleet operations. Revolutionise your fleet with ATLAS smart trailer IoT technology: The ultimate solution for hassle-free tyre maintenance on all your trailers – whether powered or uncoupled and unpowered. Easy to fit, easy to use at an affordable price.
Webinar: Smart Trailers
Trailer Telematics
This smart trailer webinar explores how the trailer is the poor relation in any fleet yet there are over 10 million trailers in Europe alone, only 8% of which have any form of telematics and even less with any form of TPMS. Yet 70% of tyre breakdowns occur in trailers. When the trailer spends a significant amount of time uncoupled and unpowered it is easy to see that fresh approach is required to trailer maintenance and monitoring.

Checking the cold tyre pressure is crucial for maintaining the safety and efficiency of a commercial vehicle’s tyres. When a tyre is cold, it is at its natural state, and any pressure reading taken at this time will give an accurate reading of the tyre’s pressure. In contrast, when a tyre is warm or hot, its pressure can increase due to the air expansion caused by heat. Thus, a reading taken when the tyre is warm or hot will be inaccurate, and it can lead to overinflation, under inflation, or even tyre failure.
Improved safety: Properly inflated tyres provide better traction, handling, and braking performance, which enhances safety on the road. Overinflated or under-inflated tyres can compromise the vehicle’s stability, increase the risk of hydroplaning, and cause blowouts or punctures.
Longer tyre life: Tyres that are inflated to the correct pressure wear evenly and last longer than those that are under-inflated or overinflated. Proper tyre pressure also reduces the risk of sidewall damage, tread separation, and other tyre-related problems that can shorten a tyre’s lifespan.
Better fuel efficiency: Tyres that are under-inflated can increase fuel consumption by up to 3%. By keeping tyres properly inflated, the vehicle’s fuel efficiency improves, resulting in lower fuel costs and reduced carbon emissions.
Using the advanced ATLAS smart trailer solution can further improve tyre maintenance and monitoring. The ATLAS system provides 24/7 real-time data on the tyre conditions of the vehicle and trailer, even when the trailer is uncoupled and powered down. This data helps fleet operators locate and address tyre-related issues promptly, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
The ATLAS Smart Trailer Solution can help fleet mechanical and tyre service providers with an accurate schedule of maintenance by providing real-time data on the condition of the vehicle & trailer and their tyres. The solution includes sensors that monitor the pressure and temperature of the tyres, as well as the, rims, load and location of the trailer.
With this data, fleet managers can receive alerts when a tyre is in need of maintenance, such as when the pressure or temperature is outside of the recommended range. They can then schedule maintenance at a convenient time, such as when the trailer is not in use, to minimise downtime and prevent costly breakdowns on the journey.
By using the ATLAS Smart Trailer Solution, fleet managers can also ensure that maintenance is performed on a regular schedule, rather than waiting for a tyre to fail. This can extend the life of the tyres and prevent the need for expensive emergency repairs.
Additionally, the solution can help to reduce the amount of time spent waiting for tyres to cool down before maintenance can be performed. By providing real-time data on the temperature of the tyres, fleet managers can schedule maintenance as soon as the tyres are cool enough to work on, rather than waiting for an extended period of time.
The smart trailer webinar shows how ATLAS Smart Trailer Solution works with any tyre, vehicle and trailer. It will assist fleet mechanical and tyre service providers improve their maintenance scheduling and reduce downtime, which can lead to significant cost savings and improved operational efficiency.
Location of Trailers
Ever lost a trailer? Once a trailer is uncoupled and left at a depot how many times does it happen that the trailer is not where you left it?
Keep track of all your trailers – powered or unpowered. ATLAS is battery backed with an independent power source to provide location, tyre pressure and security for several weeks.
