TPMS – Data Driven Decision Making

At Tough Tech, we understand the importance of continually updating our knowledge in line with evolving industry trends and customer needs—particularly when it comes to data-driven decision-making for critical assets such as wheels and tyres operating under demanding conditions.

Recently, our two co-founders, Barry Lowe and Gary Brierley , had the opportunity to visit our new Scandinavian and Baltics partner, Gripen Wheels , to gain first-hand insight into the tyre and rim technology requirements of their customers, and to explore how Gripen Wheels and Atlas technology can work together to meet those needs.

Visit to Gripen Wheels – Jönköping, Sweden

The visit took place at the Gripen Wheels warehouse and offices in Jönköping, Sweden, and included a highly productive series of meetings led by Mr Pelle Fritzson , Owner of Gripen Wheels , together with his technology team, Mr Erwin Lever and Mr Tobias Hellström.

Following the meetings, Barry and Gary were given a comprehensive tour of the warehouse and tyre service facilities. The scale of operations left a lasting impression—so much so that Gary Brierley , who has visited tyre storage facilities across the globe for over 30 years, stated that this was the largest selection of OTR and specialist tyres and rims he had ever seen housed in one location. Every item in stock is actively supporting customers throughout Scandinavia and the Baltics, underlining both demand and operational capability.

Moving Beyond Stock and Service

Looking to the future, Mr Erwin Lever explained that simply providing stock and tyre services is no longer sufficient to meet the strategic objectives of modern customers. Instead, data-driven reporting is essential for managing critical assets such as tyres and rims—ensuring profitability while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility.

Gripen Wheels is now offering customers a holistic approach to tyre and rim asset management, combining advanced technology with the expertise of qualified tyre service providers.

There is a growing challenge across the industry: access to independent, specialist advice on tyre and rim applications is diminishing. Much of the guidance available today comes directly from manufacturers themselves, making impartial consultation increasingly difficult for operators.

This is where Gripen Wheels plays a vital role—providing customers with independent expertise to ensure the right tyre is selected for the right application, with proven cost and performance outcomes. By combining the latest Atlas tyre and rim data reporting technology with a highly experienced team, Gripen Wheels offers a formidable independent resource for organisations seeking long-term sustainability and value from their tyre and rim  assets.

Proven Results in the Field

This approach has already been demonstrated through a recent case study on proactive tyre management at Heidelberg Materials in Gotland, Sweden. Mr Peter Claeson, Acting Quarry Manager, highlighted the value of having access to clear, incisive tyre and rim data to effectively manage the significant costs associated with operating and maintaining large machine tyres.

Looking Ahead

From Barry Lowe and Gary Brierley’s perspective, the visit to Gripen Wheels was a valuable opportunity to better understand the evolving needs of our partner and how Atlas technology can further complement their sales and service offering. It also reinforced the importance of continually evolving technology for operators who rely on accurate, reliable tyre and rim data to make decisions that are critical to running a profitable, safe, and sustainable business.
